unlike the other reviewer, it works fine. the product is a bit large and there is no off button so if you throw it into the toolbox, it tends to beep. but after researching other stud finders at stores and online, this is the best bang for the buck.
The readings varied each time. I tried finding stud on a drywall. This stud finder is completely useless. Luckily I had access to a wall where I could see the studs from one side. According to it, the stud edges are about 6 inches apart. In fact they are only 1.5 inch apart. I could verify that readings were totally off. I hope that I got a defective unit and it is not a problem with every unit.
